Started streaming a movie but there was no icon presented in Chrome nor in Safari. My terminals then went dark and then came back on.

It took about 20 to 30 seconds for the computer to react to that selection. At the bottom of the screen there's an airplay display drop-down, click on the drop-down, select the Apple TV that you want to communicate with. The other thing I looked into, which I read online, was going into system preferences, then Displays.

Which has me wondering, is it an application or an operating system problem? But so far, Chrome and Safari are not supporting Airplay. Today, continuing my effort to discover just what the problem was, I discovered the RING App had the airplay icon and it's functioning. Has the new operating system removed AirPlay? There was no response from the technician, she moved to a different subject. Yesterday, I called Support because of this problem and spent 2 1/2 hours talking with the Senior level support person, who was very surprised to hear about the problem and indicated she had never heard about it. I've experienced the same problem with my iMac. I've also made sure the network names match up, so I'm running out of ideas.ĭoes anyone have any advice? I appreciate any help I can get. The screen mirroring does not work, since the AirPlay display in System Preferences keeps switching to "Off" immediately after clicking which Apple TV I want to use it for.

I've restarted my router, both Apple TVs, my MacBook Pro (multiple times each), and still no fix. I've been patient since I know Big Sur is new, but this is a bit frustrating to say the least. Spoke to 3 different techs and it seems like none of them have seen this issue before. I ended up calling Apple Support and spent over 3 hours troubleshooting the issue, but no solution yet.

This leads me to believe it might have to do with the upgrade since only my MacBook Pro is having this issue. AirPlay worked just fine on my MacBook Pro before using Big Sur and it still works perfectly on both Apple TVs I have when I use my iPhone. Instead of saying "AirPlay" there was "Screen Mirroring" which was odd since screenshots online from other users still shows AirPlay. AirPlay seems to have been wiped out on my MacBook Pro since the move to Big Sur.The icon was no longer saved in the toolbar, so I went to the widgets to find it.
